Polkadot party

After months of planning Larkin's 1st birthday party, I am happy to report that it was everything I'd hoped it would be.

Really, with family joining us from all over to celebrate and delicious cupcakes to eat, how could it have been anything but perfect?

Larkin's birthday party was at Polkadots Cupcake Factory, outside on the patio. The theme was polkadots, and despite the heat, everyone had a great time.

Most importantly, Larkin had fun at her birthday party.

First, she played with the ice.

Everyone sang the happy birthday song, and then Larkin eagerly grabbed handfuls of her very own polkadot cake. Yum!

Best of all, she walked from person to person, climbed from lap to lap and got lots of love from her parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles, cousins, great-grandparents and great-aunt and great-uncle.

On Larkin's birthday party invitations, we asked that in lieu of gifts we receive donations of baby food and diapers for Larkin's daycare Mainspring Schools, which serves many low-income families.

While Larkin still received some generous gifts, we are pleased to have a large sack of baby food, diapers and other baby items to donate on Monday.

It has been a wonderful birthday weekend for Larkin, and for Matt and me as well. We have loved celebrating with our sweet baby girl, who seems less like a baby day by day.

She is 1, after all!
