Moving on up

Before:

After:

Today was Larkin's first day of transitioning from her Sunflower class to the Dewdrops class. All this week she will spend time with the Dewdrops, and then Monday morning she will be an official Dewdrop.

Miss Lori, one of her new Dewdrop teachers, said that she did great spending time with the Dewdrops today. Miss Lori said that she went to the Sunflowers class to get Larkin and when they arrived at the Dewdrops classroom Larkin walked right in as if she owned the place, then explored the entire room.

She also said that Larkin seemed happy to see some of her former Sunflower friends. They played on the playground together. Tomorrow she will spend the entire morning through lunch with the Dewdrops, and the next day a bit more of the day, and so on.

I'm really not nervous about Larkin moving up to the next class. She is one of the oldest Sunflowers now, especially since a bunch of little babies joined the class in the past few weeks. She is busy all the time and very curious, and I think she is bored in her class now.

The only thing that might be a bit of a challenge is Larkin's nap schedule. In the Dewdrops classroom, everyone takes a nap from 12-3 p.m. (I wish a 3-hour nap was required at the LAF!)

Larkin's current nap schedule is the exact opposite - on the weekends she naps from 10 to 12 and again late in the afternoon. At daycare, she hardly naps at all (because the crying babies keep her awake), and then she crashes out in the car on the way home.

We'll just see what happens - I'm sure she will transition to be on the class schedule just fine, and we will do the same at home so that she'll be on the same schedule every day.

Riley's napping totally changed when she moved up. With the lights off and everyone napping, she now naps for about 2 hours a day. On the weekends, she still naps 2 hours, but then she seems to sneak in a late afternoon one too. But she goes right back to her normal schedule during the week. So hopefully it will be fine for Larkin too!

Aurora does 2 hours too... on weekends it's like 11:30-1:30 and I think it's pretty close at daycare. 3 hours, that's impressive! I can't wait to hear how it goes - I'm sure she'll do great and fit right in with the "bigger" kiddos! Congrats big girl Larkin :)
