In addition to the house addition we're building out in the backyard, we are building cabinets and a new countertop in place of the rickety bar that's in our kitchen now.

That means additional storage! For our kitchen stuff and all of my junk! And a workspace just for me! Where I can do projects and also see the TV in the living room!

It also means our house is a minor disaster for the next 2 weeks.

Our kitchen area curtained off from the rest of the house:

In addition to keeping a good sense of humor and not letting the house stress get to us, our main goal is to keep Larkin away from the plastic so she doesn't try to pull it down, walk through it or slip and fall down.

To that end, the best strategy we've come up with is to keep Larkin busy away from home until bathtime at 7 p.m.

Tonight's after-school activity was a trip to Barton Creek Mall: the Kiehl's counter at Nordstrom for moisturizer, browsing for No. 2 at Pottery Barn Kids and dinner in the food court.

Larkin loves Chick-Fil-A just as much as her mommy!

Whoo, in addition to the price of the construction work, you're going to have some extra shopping bills to pay ;) Aurora likes chik-fil-a too! Maybe we should go there for breakfast on Saturday.
