Adorable, yet mischievous

Lately at mealtime, Larkin tests Matt and me by dropping pieces of her food off the side of her highchair.

One piece at a time, she drops food on the floor where she knows Joey is waiting.

When she does it, we tell her she's done eating and take her out of her highchair to wash her hands. "That's it. You're done." We're both pretty good at being consistent in how we respond to her misbehaving.

Here's how we know she's testing us: She holds eye contact the entire time she does it, and she gives us her adorable yet mischievous grin.

That brings us to tonight. Larkin kept dropping bits of her cheeseburger off the side of her highchair so I caught her eye and firmly told her "No!" and pointed my finger at her for emphasis.

And what did that stinker do?

She stuck out her finger and touched the tip of mine, grinning adorably and mischievously the whole time.

I seriously could not keep a straight face.

Jen-I so remember Leah and Nathan doing the same thing with their food, only there was no dog at the time waiting below, so I had to clean up the floor EVERY time! Your story brought back sweet memories. And Larkin is still just sooooo adorable!

Riley laughs at us when we tell her to sit down in her chair or not climb on the windowsill. All things that will injure her. And she stares us down while she does it with a cute little grin. Sigh.
