Today Larkin, Layne and I joined Melissa and Lucie at the Austin Zoo. We had a fun time!
The zoo was charming. It's more down-home than the zoos in Houston, Dallas or Fort Worth that I've visited, but it had a train, lions, tigers, monkeys, a bear...and lots of goats.
At the petting zoo section Layne would get close to the animals (but was afraid of feeding them), and Larkin did a great job holding her palm out flat so the goats could eat from her hand.
Mellie and I are determined to make Larkin and Lucie friends. I wouldn't say that this trip to the zoo made them any closer, but the more we get them together the better they'll remember each other next time. Eventually they will play together, not just play near each other.
