This weekend Larkin and Layne got to dye Easter eggs and hunt for eggs not once, but twice!
Yesterday we went to San Antonio for the afternoon, and Larkin and Layne had a wonderful time with their cousins Abby, James, Taylor and Ben.
Dyeing eggs was fun, but hunting for eggs was even better. Both girls filled up their baskets with plastic eggs and treats. Then they ate candy, cookies and more candy.
As the day went on, the cousin fun continued with a swim in the blow-up pool in the backyard. All four of the babies were naked as jaybirds, and they splashed and played with the garden hose while the grownups watched and giggled.
After a quick dinner (which only Layne really ate) they all took a bubble bath in Courtney's big bathtub, watched videos and - as if they needed it - ate pound cake and ice cream.
We didn't leave San Antonio until almost 10 p.m. The moment got in the car to head home to Austin, Layne was asleep and softly snoring. A few minutes later, Matt joined her.
Larkin, on the other hand, was wide awake and wanting me to tell her stories, sing songs and talk to her. I kept insisting on quiet time, and she'd say "Why you not talk to me, Mommy?" Finally Larkin fell asleep, too.
Who can blame her? She and her sister had eaten her body weight in sugar and had a very busy day playing with their aunts, uncles and cousins.
This morning Larkin and Layne went over to Haley (Ha-Ha) and Matt's house for Easter egg dyeing and to hunt for eggs.
Ha-Ha and Matt had filled up Easter baskets with coloring books, a bunch of pairs of sunglasses and heart-shaped bracelets. The girls were so excited to look through them.
Larkin was quick to point out that the bunny on her Easter basket was wearing a yellow dress. Taking it upon herself to assign goodies to herself and her sister, she quickly snagged all the yellow sunglasses and yellow bracelets for her own.
While they were enjoying their cinnamon rolls I ducked out the door, and I came back 2 hours later to Larkin stripped down to her undies running around their house. Seems she had no trouble making herself at home.
Larkin and Layne had such a fun time, and as a result they both took long naps - so I did, too. Fun Easter weekend!
